One time, long ago,
when I was much younger,
I fell in love.
There was no euphoria,
no bells ringing
or any of the other,
literal takings,
but simply, a warm
feeling of trust and comfort.

Growing older, trust and
jealousy became mixed,
while comfort became
a habit, as
taking someone for granted.

This realization. was long
in coming, for I was blind
and unwilling to reason.
I have changed for the
better, now.
