What a Piece of Luck

What a piece of luck,
that I was fortunate to see
a close encounter,
and sit next to thee.

Life can be
a game of chance.
Meeting someone
and then romance.

Not a choice in life
just a twist of fate,
when you arrived
at the party, too late.

Such is life,
more often than not,
for what I had
I no longer have got.
