Do you sing in the shower, with the radio, in a choir or just to yourself? Sing It Seattle! is for people just like you.
At each event, you'll hear snippets of three popular songs (songs you probably already know from the vast repertoire of pop, rock, soul and even Broadway hits). You vote on your favorite, then as a group, you'll spend the next 90 minutes learning that song with some totally cool vocal harmonies. It's open to everyone regardless of vocal ability. There's no audition, no commitment and no requirement to read music. Sing it Seattle! is based on music and singing that's spontaneous, creative and fun. And it all happens in the comfort of Unexpected Productions' Market Theater, a spacious sound-rich theater in the heart of downtown Seattle.

Bring your friends and let's sing together. Come and be happy!

In February it was announced that Ballard High School’s jazz band is one of only 15 schools in the country to make the cut to compete in the Essentially Ellington Festival at Lincoln Center.

The band just arrived in New York (above) for the competition on Friday, May 11th and Saturday, May 12th. Each band will perform before a distinguished panel of judges — including Wynton Marsalis.

Ballard is scheduled to perform between 10-11:30 a.m. our time on Saturday. Then at 1 p.m. PT, judges will announce the top three bands. Later that night, the winner will be announced.

The BHS jazz band has had a busy year. In March it was one 13 high school bands selected to play at the Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey, CA. Then later that month, BHS was one of five Western Washington high school jazz bands selected to perform in Starbucks’ 23rd annual Hot Java Cool Jazz event at the Paramount Theater for a sold-out performance.

Go BHS!
